Sareung Royal Tomb is the tomb of Queen Jeongsun, the queen consort of King Danjong (the 6th ruler of the Joseon Dynasty). It was built on the current site, the cemetery of Haeju Jeong’s clan, the in-laws of King Danjong’s older sister, Princess Gyeonghye after the death of Queen Jeongsun as a wife of Nosangun (the title of "Gun" is a term indicating less respect in naming rulers in Korean history.). In 1698(the 24th year of King Sukjong’s reign), she was restored to Queen Jeongsun and the royal tomb was reconstructed according to the royal system and named Sareung.
